We now start our long drive north to the Venezuelan border. We have breakfast, load up the truck (we had some troubles with back locker as the truck was leaning the wrong way) and we head off shortly after 9 AM. We drive for the whole day, but we do have a nice stop for lunch at a waterfall along the way. We get there at 11 AM, so we hang out at the falls for an hour (while Flip and Mike kindly get lunch ready) and then eat before heading on.

During the afternoon we drive through an Indian reservation. The road is horrible, so we have a chance to sit in the roof seats. It is a great ride - fresh air, great view of the forest and fantastic bird watching. We cannot stop nor get off while in the reservation, so we have to drive straight through.

That evening we camp at the equator, arriving just at 6 PM. We camp at the car park at the marker right next to the road. Lars checks the accuracy of the marker using his GPS and it is very precise (unlike the one in Ecuador). We decide to set up out tent straddling the equator, so we will sleep with our heads in the north and our feet in the south. It does not seem to make much difference.
