Weather: | Mostly cloudy, occasional sun, occasional rain, very hot and humid. Warm at night. |
We continue our long drive north to Venezuela. After breakfast this morning we take a group photo at the equator. We get most, but not all, of the group to participate. We head off just before 8 AM and drive for most of the day.
We have a lunch stop in an abandoned petrol station - nice shade from the sun and any potential rain. Later in the afternoon we stop in Boa Vista for some cook group shopping. We then drive for about 15 minutes out of Boa Vista to a river, where we set up camp for the night.
It is a nice little spot. We can camp on the sandy beach and they have an open-sided shelter that we can use. It comes in handy as it does start to rain later that evening. Some people go for a swim and others just hang out.
Tonight for dinner, we decide to cook up some green curry with chicken. We are using the green curry paste that Jacqui's mother sent to us in Manaus. We do not have enough for everyone, so this causes a bit of stress, but we just wanted to have some of the food that we miss so much. It turns out great!!!
