Daily Journal Entry:

Today is shopping day.  After lazing around in bed, we have breakfast in the hotel on the terrace overlooking the beach.  Then we hit the streets and just wander around trying to get lost and to see what we can find.

We stop by the post office and get some stamps for postcards and then find a number of shops that are selling antiques and other things.  We are interested in some of the tiles (which are just like the ones they have in Malacca), but they do not have a wide selection and they are too expensive.  We also look at some of the wooden doors, but they are too big.  In the mean time, we are enjoying looking at all the old buildings.  We do end up buying some paintings, that we can role up.

It is back to the hotel for lunch.  We have the cheese that we bought in Lushoto with some crackers while sitting on the balcony overlooking the sea.  We then get very lazy and decide to take a nap in the afternoon.  Before getting ready for dinner, we head down to the pool for a quick swim.

Tonight we are heading over to Emerson's and Green's for dinner at their rooftop restaurant.  We wander through the streets (and we must be getting a feel for the narrow, winding streets as we do not get lost and find our way right there) and get there shortly after 6 PM.  We head up and have a glass of wine before dinner watching as the sun sets over Stone Town and the sea.  We are joined by Fred.  The roof top restaurant is a small terrace at the top of the hotel which only fits about 20 guests.  For dinner they have no chairs - you sit on cushions and have small coffee tables for the food.  It is a great setting with fantastic views and a cooling breeze.

The food is also fantastic - we start off with some chips and nuts with the drinks, followed by lobster, cold cucumber soup, fish with rice, carrot cake and sorbet.  We are stuffed by the end of the dinner.  Once dinner is over, we enjoy the location over a few drinks.  The moon is almost full so we have a great view over the town and the sea.

Around 10:30 PM they finally kick us out and we meet up with Paolo and Craig and head over to Blue's for a drink.  Another nice setting over the beach and the sea.  From there it is back to the hotel.
