Daily Journal Entry:

We are up early as usual.  After a quick breakfast, we decide to go for a swim in the ocean - today the waves are a bit bigger, but the current a bit weaker.  After a quick shower, we pack up the truck.  After filling up the water tanks, we drive into St Louis for the morning.

We go shopping - a few more stores are open as it is Monday today.  We find some interesting things and, in the end, we get one gold necklace, a coral and shell necklace and a piece of material.  We have lunch at the same spot as yesterday, after which we head back to the truck at 1:00 PM.  Shortly thereafter we head off towards Dakar.  We stay at a campsite about 15-20 km outside the center of the city.  After a bit of looking around, we find the campsite (after discovering that the first choice was closed).

But we had some problems getting into the campsite.  We first had to navigate through some low trees, and then we had to struggle through the soft sand to get the truck into the campsite area.  We had to get out the shovels and sand mats to make it.  It was all good fun.

It was a pretty basic campsite.  No electricity and no running water.  We had to get water out of the well ourselves (Mor, just like you did when growing up in Norway!)- one way of making sure people did not waste water.  After dinner, we went to bed after hanging around the fire for a while.
