We had a lazy start to the day and relaxed in the tent until around 8:10 AM, when we packed up our stuff and went and had breakfast.  As we had arrived at the campsite in the dark, we were not sure exactly what kind of a spot it was - and it turned out to be quite nice.  After breakfast we decided to go have a swim in the Atlantic Ocean.  The waves did not look too big, but when we got in the water there was a very strong southerly current.  At first the water felt a bit cold, but it was nice after we had been in for a while.  We would play in the waves for a while, but we would then need to walk back up the beach as we had been dragged down a ways.  We did this a few times and it was very refreshing.  We then took a shower to wash off the salt water and yesterday's driving.

At 11:30 AM we drove into town.  We spend the early part of the afternoon walking around, but as it was Sunday, many places were closed.  We had lunch at a small, family run restaurant where we had local, Senegalese food, namely chicken with rice and an onion based sauce.  To drink we had fresh fruit juice - Jacqui mango and Lars banana.  It was excellent and cost us about US$6.  After lunch we did some more walking around, stopping at a pastry shop for dessert.  The locals were quite friendly, many wanting to come up for a chat.  While often they wanted us to see their shop, go to their restaurant or trade something, they were still very friendly when we politely declined (a nice change from Morocco).

It is a very nice town and we are looking forward to coming back tomorrow to explore a bit more when the shops are open.  But there are some parts of town, as with any town that are not so nice.  We have to drive through it when going to and from the campsite.

We drove back to the campsite at around 3 PM and took it easy for the rest of the afternoon.  We hung out on the beach and worked on our journals and watched the sun set.

After dinner and clearing up, a few of us head down to the beach to take a look at the crabs.  We get down close to the water and turn on our lights and we catch hundreds of crabs scrambling away from us and the lights.  They are everywhere.  It is quite a sight.  They do not seem to like the lights and each time we turn them on, they scatter.

We then head back to the campsite where a small is has been put on for us - a bunch of drummers and dancers.  It is quite good, but a bit load and the drumming is the same.  A bunch of us are also fighting off sleep - way past our bed time!!!
