Daily Journal Entry:

Another quiet day in Swakopmund.  We are up early - it is now really the routine.  After lazing around and getting ready, we head into town for breakfast.  We decide to walk in on the road along the beach.  The weather that Swakopmund is famous for as rolled in, namely heavy fogs in the morning that are thick and can penetrate as far as 50 km in-land.  It is this fog that provides the moisture that allows what little plant life there is to grow.

The pier on the beach is in bad shape and looks like it is about to fall into the sea at any moment.  Despite considering it, we decide not to climb over the fence and go walk out on the pier.  We have breakfast at a very Germanic coffee shop.  It was very good, in particular the cakes that we decided to order.  After breakfast we wandered the streets doing some shopping.

After lunch, while Jacqui continued the shopping expedition, Lars went to the internet cafe to update our website.  We returned to our room around 5 PM and took it easy.

Dinner was at the Tug, a restaurant on the shore right next to the pier.  While the meal was good, it was not as good as the one we had last night.  We wandered back to the hotel through the dark streets.  It has now started to get very cold at night and we do not want to be outdoors for too long.  We did not pack too many warm clothes for this trip.
