We slept in as late as we could, but we had to get up to go to the joining meeting for the next leg of our trip.  We wash up, pack up our stuff and then check out of the hotel.  We walk over to the 680 Hotel, where we meet up with the rest of the group.  We get a briefing on the next trip, leave our luggage in storage and then head out for lunch.  After a quick sandwich, we head over to the internet cafe.  Lars then finishes updating the website through the end of the West Africa trip.

We then need to wander back to the 680 Hotel to meet the truck at 3 PM.  We load our bags in and head out of town.  We have a short drive to Whistling Thorns campsite, where we spend the first night of this leg of the trip.  It is raining, so we spend most of the time under cover.  We use the opportunity to take care of house keeping, such as assigning jobs, allocating cook groups and paying in the kitty money.

We have an excellent dinner of pizzas and ice cream, after which we head into the bar for a few drinks and a couple of pool games.  It is then off to bed - we set up our tent under the cover of the verandah, so that we do not get wet.  I tell everyone that rain is auspicious and that it is a good start to the trip (it did, after all, rain in Asilah at the beginning of our West Africa trip and that was a great trip).
