Daily Journal Entry:
Today we spend the day in Windhoek. Despite the late night last night (the alcoholic excess), we are still up with the sun (we have gotten so used to it). After sorting out our plans, we head into town for breakfast at one of the sidewalk cafes. It is amazing how much we feel that we are somewhere in the West and not in Africa.

After breakfast, we spend the morning shopping and checking our emails at the internet cafe. We meet up with some people from the group for lunch and then head back to the campsite to take it easy for the rest of the afternoon. We just have to sort out our laundry. They have not done a good job of drying it, so we end up with stuff hanging everywhere.
Before heading out for dinner we play some pool and darts. After Jacqui and Lars complete their game, a small boy wants to play, so Jacqui entertains him. Lars joins some others playing darts. Then we head out to the Portuguese restaurant where we had pre-dinner drinks last night. The food looked so good that we had to try it out.
While we had to wait a while for a table (no reservations - not used to making reservations after so long in Africa), it was well worth the wait. The food and wine was great. We enjoyed some drinks and cigars after dinner. Around midnight, we walked back to the campsite.
After some time in Windhoek, we really feel like we have left Africa. What a change from West Africa and even East Africa.
