Today we have a very full and busy day in Marrakech. After breakfast in the hotel, we head to run some errands. First, we mail all the postcards that we have been writing and have not had the chance to mail. Then we go to the bank and get some money so that we can do some shopping in the souks. Jacqui then gets her hand painted with henna.
We then go wander through the medina, walking through the souks as we head to the Medersa. We spend some time exploring the Medersa, where they had over 900 scholars in about 400 cells. It was very large and had some very interesting features.
From the Medersa, we tried to get ourselves lost in the Medina, but we kept finding our way out. But it was fun to wander around the streets and to look into all the shops. We stopped in one of the small local restaurants, and had some chicken and lamb. Following lunch, we walked around and did some more shopping. We picked up some ceramics and an old Berber instrument.
In the afternoon, we returned to the hotel to relax. We checked the internet, worked on our journals and took it easy. After washing up, we met some other people from the group and went out for dinner.
We went out to the big square and decided to eat at one of the stall. Some from the group decided to try the snails as an appetizer. We then sat down to a large meal of barbequed food at one of the stalls. After walking around for a while, we headed back to the hotel.
