Today we have a bit of a slow start - it must be the lack of animal noises and the rising sun that lets us sleep in a bit.  We get out of bed shortly after 7 AM - breakfast was being served at 7 AM, so we were a bit late.

After a lazy morning - the only productive activity was soaking the laundry - we headed into the center of town shortly after 9 AM.  We wander the town for the morning.  Go to the bank and change some money, try to buy some stamps at the post office, go to the museum (which is simple, but has some nice items on display, including an example of a hut that you can go into), wander around the Grand Mosque (which is in the typical Sahel-style mud architecture) look at a number of souvenir shops, and go buy a few essentials at a small super market we find (things such as Pringles, a single malt, a bottle of red wine, toilet paper, and so on).  We then have a light lunch, after which we head back to the hotel.

The rest of the afternoon is spent doing laundry, working on our journals and generally taking it easy.

That evening, a bunch of us take a taxi into town and have dinner at one of the local restaurants.  After dinner, we go to one of the "hot spots", and listen to some live African music.  It is quite good.  When they stop playing at midnight, we wander the streets for a while to see what the town is like late at night.  We take a taxi back to the hotel.
