This is another driving day, but
at least today we get a break on the beach for lunch. In between
taking down the tent, preparing and serving breakfast and packing up the truck, we have a
moment to go and admire the sunrise over the beach. It is just a shame that
we did not have more time here. We head off at 8 AM and drive along a
hilly, cliff-side road that winds it's way along the coast. It is
scenic, but a bit slow.

At 11:20 AM we stop in a town on
the beach for lunch and a break. We have a quick burger in one of the
bars and then head down to the beach to relax and soak up some rays.
It is hot. We then walk up along the beach to meet the truck at the
other end.

We drive for the rest of the
afternoon, arriving in Paraty at 6:30 PM. The campsite is
packed. There must be over 10 other over land trucks there. We
have to squeeze in at the back of the campsite. It is awful, but that
seems to be the nature of the Carnival run. It is our turn to cook, so
after setting up our tent, we prepare our last dinner of this leg of the
trip. We first open a bottle of wine and then get to work. We
decide to make a simple tomato sauce with spaghetti (we had shopped about 3
days ago, so we could not have anything that had to be chilled).

Over dinner we ask about the
diving that can be done, but despite being mentioned as an optional extra in
the trip notes, the drivers knew nothing about it. They also did not
go and try to find anything out (we were cooking after all) - they seemed
more focused on drinking. We opened a second bottle of wine as
consolation. Cooking seemed less of a chore then.

After dinner, we just take it
easy, wash up and get an early night.
