Another wonderful summer day in
Norway so we have our brunch outside on the lawn once again. It really
is a great way to start the day with a variety of fresh breads, cold cuts,
cheeses, herring, juices and coffee and tea. We take about an hour and
a half - a nice slow enjoyable brunch. But soon we must get ready, as
we are off to another family gathering - this time to Hønefoss. Once
we are ready, we take the ten minute walk down to the bottom of the hill
here we are picked by Tante Berit. It takes us about 30 minutes to
drive to Lars' cousin Live's place. |
|
It is a great get together - we
have many generations and pretty much everyone is represented. We have
uncles and aunts, grandparents, cousins, nephews and nieces and plenty of
grandchildren. Their beautiful house has a fantastic deck and given this
weather, we are soon all out on the deck with a drink and chatting. |
|
And, of course, there is plenty
of food. What a feast. The counter in the kitchen is loaded with
all kinds of dishes and we take a number of hours to make a dent in it. |
|
And then there are the desserts.
We lost track of the number of cakes, pies and dishes. Many of them
homemade and absolutely delicious. There was also the obligatory
Krensekake. We way over did eat and just stuffed ourselves. We
washed this all down with wine and beer and then followed by coffee and tea.
It was a fantastic meal. |
|
The party lasted until shortly
after 6 PM when we all headed back. We were dropped off at the base of
the hill and began the walk up the steep road. But it was a god thing
- we needed some exercise after all that food. Once we got back to
Jorgen's place, all we could do was sit back and relax. Fortunately
Jorgen had some single malts to help us with our digestion. |

On the news weather report, we
are told that this is the last day of summer. The long period of good
weather is expected to come to an end. We shall see. It is hard
to believe as we go to bed with a clear blue sky. |
